Community COVID-19 Testing Sites Wrapped up in Corner Brook and Meadows
Western Health would like to thank residents of the North Shore Bay of Islands and Corner Brook for participating in additional community testing clinics for asymptomatic people this week. Western Health has received sufficient testing results to inform public health decision-making.
There were 1243 tests completed in total from the two testing clinics over the three day period. At this time, there have been no presumptive positive results through rapid testing or confirmed positive results from lab-based testing since the clinics opened on Monday. Based on this testing and other parts of the public health investigation, there is currently no indication of community transmission of the COVID-19 virus in the Western region.
The number of individuals who requested a test at these clinics was greater than the number of appointments available. If you completed a request for COVID-19 testing and do not have any symptoms, you will not be booked for a test at this time.
To book for the clinics individuals were advised to complete the online assessment process and answer “yes” when asked “Do you require a COVID-19 test as a result of an advisory from public health.” If you completed the online assessment or called 811 due to a different public advisory (ex. Travel or flight advisory) and you do not receive an appointment for testing within 24 hours, please submit another online referral (here) or call 811.
Western Health continues to provide COVID-19 testing throughout the region for individuals with one or more symptom. If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, please complete a self-assessment online or call 811.
Everyone is reminded to follow public health measures including wearing masks, staying home when sick, practicing good hand hygiene, staying home as much as possible unless necessary for work and other essential activities, and following provincial public health requirements and recommendations.
