Individuals Encouraged to Receive COVID-19 Vaccines

Nov 24, 2022

Western Health is encouraging individuals to receive their COVID-19 vaccine. All individuals older than 5 years of age may receive a booster 20 weeks after their last dose. It is recommended individuals have their booster dose at least 3 months after having a COVID-19 infection.

The following types of vaccine appointments continue to be available in the Western region:

  • Primary Series (aged 6 months and older)
  • COVID-19 Booster Doses (5 years and older)
  • Bivalent COVID-19 Series or Booster (12 years and older)

Two bivalent vaccines are currently available for those age 12 years and older:

Moderna Bivalent vaccine which protects against the original strain plus the Omicron BA 1 strain; and Pfizer Bivalent vaccine which protects against the original strain and the Omicron BA 4/5. You can choose which vaccine you will receive in consultation with the health care provider at your vaccine appointment.

Online booking is only available for COVID-19 vaccine appointments for individuals aged five and older in:

  • Corner Brook Valley Mall
  • Stephenville Public Health Office (149 Montana)
  • Port aux Basques Public Health Office (Barhaven Drive)

If you wish to book an appointment at one of these sites, please book online here. Those unable to book online can schedule an appointment by calling 1-833-703-5470 toll free. For all other areas in the region, and for vaccines for children under the age of five, please call your local Public Health office to book an appointment.
