Western Health Opens Two Appointment-Based Flu Assessment and Treatment Clinics
Mar 26, 2020
Western Health has opened two appointment-based flu assessment and treatment clinics at the Corner Brook Civic Centre Studio and at the Bay St George Medical Clinic. These clinics are established to divert people with flu or respiratory symptoms from family practice offices and emergency departments.
Individuals will be referred to these clinics through 811, family doctors’ offices, community health or community support services. In addition, Western Health opened two drive through appointment-based COVID-19 testing sites, in Stephenville and Corner Brook. Western Health continues to offer in home testing in communities throughout the region. Western Health is asking the public not to go to the testing sites or the flu assessment and treatment clinics unless they have been given an appointment. Western Health reminds the public that individuals who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or who have come in contact with someone who has fever, cough or difficulty breathing, should complete the online self-assessment at www.811healthline.ca before calling the NL Health Line 811. Based on advice from 811, individuals who need further follow up will be instructed to contact public health who will then determine if testing is required.
