Please be advised that temporary visitation restrictions have been lifted at the J.I. O’Connell Centre, Corner Brook. Visitation restrictions were put in place last month when the home experienced an outbreak of Norwalk which is stomach flu-like illness which may include vomiting and diarrhea.
Please be advised that temporary visitation restrictions have been lifted at the J.I. O’Connell Centre, Corner Brook. Visitation restrictions were put in place last month when the home experienced an outbreak of Norwalk which is stomach flu-like illness which may include vomiting and diarrhea.
Visitation Bans continue at Western Memorial Regional Hospital including Bethany Place and Mowbray Place in Corner Brook, Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville and LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques.
Western Health would like to ask for the public’s co-operation during this temporary visitation ban and remind individuals that they are not able to visit any of these sites until the visitation ban has been lifted.
Exceptions for visitation may be made on a case-by-case basis for immediate family members of the terminally ill. Please contact the particular site directly for instructions on how to proceed.
People who have had vomiting and diarrhea or other flu like symptoms are asked to refrain from visiting any of Western Health’s facilities. Individuals with any of these symptoms should rest at home, drink fluids, practice proper hand washing with hot water and soap, and if the symptoms persist contact their physician.
To prevent the spread of infection in any institution in the Western Health region, we ask the public to follow these simple steps:
- Wash/Sanitize your hands when you enter or leave any of Western Health's facilities.
- There may be times when you are asked to follow special precautions or instructions where you visit i.e. wearing gloves, gowns, masks or washing hands.
