Temporary Visitation Restrictions Lifted at the Corner Brook Interfaith Home - Feb 19, 2010

People who have had vomiting and diarrhea or other flu like symptoms are asked to not to visit any of Western Health’s facilities. Individuals with any of these symptoms should rest at home, drink fluids, practice proper hand washing with hot water and soap, and if the symptoms persist contact their physician. Please be advised that visitation restrictions have been lifted at the Corner Brook Interfaith Home. Family members and friends are once again welcome to visit residents at the home.

Visitation restrictions remain in place at Western Memorial Regional Hospital including Mowbray and Bethany Places, Protective Community Residences and the O’Connell Centre. The restriction also includes Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville. A visitation ban is in place due to an outbreak of stomach flu-like illness in these Western Health’s facilities and the community.

Western Health would like to thank the public for their co-operation during this visitation ban and ask for people to continue not to visit facilities where the restriction remains until it is lifted.

Exceptions for visitation may be made on a case-by-case basis for immediate family members for example of the terminally ill. Please contact the facility directly for instructions on how to proceed.

Western Health would like to thank you for your cooperation in helping prevent   the spread of infectious diseases.
