Please be advised that temporary visitation restrictions in Corner Brook have been expanded to include the J.J. O’Connell Centre and the Protective Community Residences on Wheeler’s Road. Visitation restrictions were put in place earlier this week and include all floors of Western Memorial Regional Hospital including Mowbray Place and Bethany Place and the Interfaith Home. Those visitation restrictions are continuing throughout the weekend.

A visitation ban is in place due to a confirmed outbreak of Norwalk which is stomach flu-like illness which may include vomiting and diarrhea.

Western Health would like to ask for the public’s co-operation during this temporary visitation ban and remind individuals that they are not able to visit any of these sites until the visitation ban has been lifted.

Exceptions for visitation may be made on a case-by-case basis for immediate family members of the terminally ill. Please contact the particular site directly for instructions on how to proceed.

People who have had vomiting and diarrhea or other flu like symptoms are asked to refrain from visiting any of Western Health’s facilities. Individuals with any of these symptoms should rest at home, drink fluids, practice proper hand washing with hot water and soap, and if the symptoms persist contact their physician.

To prevent the spread of infection in any institution in the Western Health region, we ask the public to follow these simple steps:
Western Health would like to thank you for your cooperation in helping prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
