Western Health is pleased to advise that four new nurses have been offered and have accepted nursing positions at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders. With the recruitment of these four nurses, all permanent nursing positions at the health centre are filled.

Western Health had been aggressively recruiting nurses after positions became vacant in November 2009. The staffing of these positions has been one of the main priorities of the Human Resources Department in recent months.

“The addition of these four nurses will stabilize the services that we provide at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre,” said Dr. Minnie Wasmeier, Chief Operating Officer with Western Health.  “Nurses perform critical duties at our hospitals and health centres. We are pleased to welcome these new staff and look forward to returning to a full staffing complement of nurses in Port Saunders in the near future.”

Western Health wishes to express its sincere appreciation to the existing nursing staff at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre for their commitment and hard work during this interim period.

The new nurses have been hired and are expected to begin their positions over the next few months with the final nurse arriving in May, 2010 after graduation.  Until that time, services will continue to be maintained with casual and temporary staff.
