Western Health would like to advise the general public that as of today, new X-ray equipment is in service at the Deer Lake Medical Clinic. The installation took place over the past four weeks and X-ray services had been unavailable during that time period.
Sheila Freake, Director of Medical Imaging at Western Health, believes this new equipment will be of great benefit to the clinic and people it serves. “The new X-ray machine is more patient friendly allowing us to work around the patient and can even accommodate individuals with mobility limitations,” said Freake.
The new X-ray equipment is more convenient and user friendly for staff and patients, the table lowers up and down to allow easy access for patients. The new machine replaces a unit that was built in the 1970s and will provide a more reliable X-ray service to the people in Deer Lake and White Bay region and areas served by the clinic.
The total investment for the project including installation was $160,000.
