Individuals who meet this criteria will receive the unadjuvanted vaccine at clinics. If individuals choose not to accept the unadjuvanted vaccine, they will be given the first opportunity to receive the adjuvanted vaccine once the next shipment of vaccine is received. If the unadjuvanted vaccine is no longer available due to a limited supply, individuals will be waitlisted for the next shipment.

The federal government officially approved use of the unadjuvanted H1N1 vaccine in Canada on November 13. The vaccine is now approved for individuals between 10 and 64 years of age who are not immunocompromised. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), the adjuvanted and unadjuvanted vaccines have been shown to provide an excellent immune response for individuals between 10 and 64 years of age.

Please be advised anyone who does not meet the priority groups criteria will be screened out at this time.

As part of the H1N1 immunization registration process, persons are required to have their MCP Card with them at the time of registration. People are asked to wear short sleeves or easy roll up sleeves.

All residents will have access to the H1N1 vaccine. Western Health will update the schedule as more information is available. The Provincial Government, working with the Regional Health Authorities, will monitor the mass immunization program as it rolls out and changes may be made to the existing plan.

If people have questions or concerns please call 1-877-632-H1N1 (4161).
